Dr. Chinedu Anthony Anene is an experienced computational biologist and Senior Lecturer in Bioinformatics at Leeds Beckett University. He has over eight years of experience applying informatics methods to medical science research, with a focus on cancer genomics, RNA biology, and data-driven approaches to human disease.
Previously, Dr. Anene worked at the Cancer Research UK Barts Centre at Queen Mary University of London (2017–2021) as a Research Associate in cancer cell and molecular biology, and as Lecturer in Bioinformatics at London South Bank University (2021–2023). He has built software tools for predicting prostate cancer progression risk and mapped immune cells in tumor samples.
His current research focuses on the noncoding genome and enhancer RNAs (eRNAs), developing computational methods and applying integrative multi-omics to understand regulatory variation, RNA–protein interactions, and disease progression.
Dr. Anene graduated with distinction from the University of Bradford, UK with a Master’s degree in Biomedical Sciences. He completed his doctoral research (PhD) in cardiovascular diseases and molecular biology at the University of Bradford, characterizing miRNA mechanisms underlying endothelial cell function.
Current Role: Senior Lecturer in Bioinformatics at Leeds Beckett University (since 2023).
Previous Roles: Lecturer in Bioinformatics at London South Bank University (2021–2023); Research Associate at CRUK Barts Cancer Centre, Queen Mary University of London (2017–2021).
Research: Built software tools for predicting prostate cancer progression; mapped immune cells in tumor samples; published articles on skin cancer progression through DNA changes.
Freelance Consulting: Available as a freelance bioinformatics consultant on Kolabtree.
